Since I just posted about being at the beach home, I will indulge myself.
Best Season
It’s the middle of the week, middle of the day, middle of September, and I’m living my best life.
I have written about the “Silver Season” for traveling. It’s the time when kids are back in school and parents are back in their homeland. It’s a time of wonderful weather and small crowds, short lines, and less surrounding chaos—at least that’s how I see it.
In California, I’ve heard Sept referred to as “locals’ summer.” I get it now. If this is your home, it’s mostly just your homeland people around.
Scootering full soul happiness
So, on Thursday at 11 am, I put on Airpod in, hopped on my scooter, and headed up the Pacific Coast Highway. I started my favorite hard rock playlist(s) and cruised along the Pacific Ocean—with an ocean breeze, blowing sand, and sun-shining glory.
There were points along my ride where I was overtaken with pure elation. Times of absolute joy and gratitude. Times of reflection from my teen years (music) to my lifestyle now (FIREd at the beach). This is not a common occurrence in my life, but a feeling I’m aware of, and I treasure when it happens.
Is Elation Elusive?
Do you feel elation?
I sure hope you have times in your life when you are glowing with amazing energy.
You may just realize elation is happening, or you may have to look to find your elation. Finding what gives you joy is, or should be, an important part of our lives.
Stop, think, realize, strive, and find what makes you the happiest. Bring more of that into your lives.
Maybe my “retirement” photo isn’t two beach chairs, but sitting on my scooter on the Coast Highway.

Typical summer scootering pic of me pulled over and realizing.

I find September the best month of the year. Everyone is done vacation, its not too hot, its not too cold, and people just seem happier as they settle back into a post summer routine.
Elation is tough to hold. By that I mean i can find it by experiencing something new, being in a crowd of like minded people (like a FI meetup), or getting lost in creativity. The problem is that it is fleeting. Its like trying to hold water in your hands. You can but it quickly goes away when you open your fingers.
The question is how to stay in that elated state longer then the rare glimpses we get
I never thought about the length of elation. I just enjoyed it in the moment. I don’t know if I’d want long-term elationing?
